This week we launched the first gathering of the Global Connectons Leadership Community in Dallas. We have 13 great churches that are passionate about global missions. More importantly each church are living in the new paradigms of what the future of global missions will look like. Each church brings a strength that they can contribute but also with a lot of white space on the map. Here are the churches that are engaed:
Atascadero Bible Church, Atascadeo, CA
Austin Stone Community Church, Austin, TX
Bent Tree Bible Fellowship, Carrollton, TX
Crossroads Christian Church, Cincinnati, OH
Elmbrook Church, Milwaulkee, WI
Lake Avenue Church, Pasadena, CA
Lake Pointe Church, Rockwall, TX
Mariners Church, Irvine, TX
Pantano Christian Church, Tucson, AZ
Perimeter Church, Duluth, GA
The Chapel, Akron, OH
The Crossing, Costa Mesa, CA
Wheaton Bible Church, Wheaton, IL
One exercise we did that created a lot of breakthrough ideas was the George Constaza scenario, where George determined his life was a complete failure so to turn his life around, started doing the EXACT OPPOSITE, and low and behold he began getting different results. So we asked the teams to do the opposite of what the church has historically done in mission. So if they traditionally sent people to a different country, then the opposite might be to receive people from a different country or helping the countries they work in to send people to other peoples…or send the ethnic churches in their community to the countries of origin…Great time.
